The Immediate Early Gene Product EGR1 and Polycomb Group Proteins Interact in Epigenetic Programming during Chondrogenesis
Initiation of and progression through chondrogenesis is driven by changes in the cellular microenvironment. At the onset of chondrogenesis, resting mesenchymal stem cells are mobilized in vivo and a complex, step-wise chondrogenic differentiation program is initiated. Differentiation requires coordinated transcriptomic reprogramming and increased progenitor proliferation; both processes require...
متن کاملExpression of the Optx2 homeobox gene during mouse development
Optx2, a member of the sine oculis-Six family of homeobox genes, is first expressed in the anterior neural plate of the mouse embryo, and subsequently in the optic vesicle and ventral forebrain. During later development, expression is further restricted to precursors of the neural retina, optic chiasm, adenohypophysis and neurohypophysis. In the adult mouse retina, Optx2 mRNA is found in cells ...
متن کاملExpression of the homeobox gene GBX2 during chicken development
We have examined the expression pattern of the GBX2 gene during chicken embryogenesis. First transcripts are found in the epiblast of a HH st. 3+ embryo. With the onset of neurogenesis, transcripts mark the posterior neuroectoderm. Later on, expression is detectable in the isthmic region, the hindbrain and the neural tube. We show that GBX2 transcripts, as well as the protein, mark the presumpt...
متن کاملRegulation of gene transcription by Polycomb proteins
The Polycomb group (PcG) of proteins defines a subset of factors that physically associate and function to maintain the positional identity of cells from the embryo to adult stages. PcG has long been considered a paradigmatic model for epigenetic maintenance of gene transcription programs. Despite intensive research efforts to unveil the molecular mechanisms of action of PcG proteins, several f...
